The Milk & Honey Tour is getting closer and closer by the day, so here is a very real and unscripted behind the scenes look at how we go about prepping for our tours.
This video was cut up by Lubo and displays the prep we did for our very first tour: The Screw Loose Zoo ‘22 Tour. The initial idea was to create weekly “video diaries” before, during, and after the tour, however things got in the way and we just didn’t have the time to fully put the project together. But as members of the RA Fan Club, you’ve earned a backstage pass to watch the video.
As you can see, this was a rough cut. We had a lot of different ideas at the time, such as “Crooked City TV'“, which never ended up happening. It’s a raw video, but it’s a good look at what life is like day to day for us.
Prepping for a tour is not a simple task. The SLZ Tour was our first real tour as a band, and there was a steep learning curve to get through. We had a lot of help from the team members we added, but the workload was intense.
We went through hours and hours of rehearsals just to get the show ready, which doesn’t include figuring out how to get and sell merchandise, lights and sound, and travel and accommodations. As James puts it, playing a live show is like putting together a wedding, except that wedding travels every day to a new city for an entire month or more. Sounds exhausting right?
All that being said, I think everyone in the band is extremely proud of our first tour and how everything ended up. We put on a great show, had a blast meeting all of the fans, and it set us up for 2 more successful tours that year.
