April 2022 - Coachella
Recapping 2022, the wildest year yet for Rare Americans, through the eyes of Jamesy Boy himself
It’s 2023 already? Wild. It’s fun to look back on a year and see everything you did. That’s what’s so great about iPhones, the notes and photos apps where you can re-live your year. I took a ride down the last 12 months for my own reflection and figured I would let you guys into it as well. Sometimes I give myself no credit for anything, I’m very much a “whats up next?” type of person, but that’s something I’m working on. Having gratitude for myself, being proud of what I’ve accomplished, and celebrating the little wins. So here’s a look back at 2022.

APRIL
I went to Coachella for the first time…unfortunately as a spectator :P
It was cool, it motivated me to keep pushing and play these festivals one day. Coachella is very scene’y. It’s a place for people to see and be seen. Everyone dresses very extra, trying to “peacock” at much as possible. The funny thing is there are so many people doing the same thing that absolutely nobody stands out. I saw several celebrities that in their normal lives would be quite famous, but here no one even noticed them. For example, the Oppenheimer brothers from Selling Sunset.
My favourite show of the weekend by far was Turnstile, they smashed it. And guess what? Standing right behind me was Tim Armstrong from Rancid. I went up to him after the set to shake his hand and tell him how much of an inspiration he has been to me.
This photo taken right before Run The Jewels played. It was so hot, we tried to find shade whenever we could.
A cheeky selfie with Tim Armstrong at Turnstile, almost looks like he’s looking at the camera!
We went to a party hosted by SPIN magazine and they did this social media series that featured this personified cup in all sorts of wild situations. They asked me to do one, so I pretended me and the cup partied our asses off and passed out by the pool. They featured RA on their stories for the first time. That’s when it clicked to me that PR is largely a relationships industry and thats the advantage of living in a city like LA. You end up meeting so many people who work for publications, radio stations, streamers, etc. Being isolated in Vancouver hasn’t helped our cause when it comes to industry awareness which we’ve always struggled with.
Join us on the next post as we go over what happened in May!

I’m manifesting that you guys will play in Coachella one day
